Melt Down

PC (Xbox Adaptive Controller) (2024)

This game was designed for a custom interface built using the Xbox Adaptive Controller, and the layout can be seen below. While the experience works the best on that specialized setup, the input still maps onto a regular Xbox controller, as shown in the parentheses, and the game can also be played on a regular keyboard, using the bindings written in blue on the diagram.

To build a sandwich, choose an ingredient category (bread, meat, cheese, veggies, or sauce), use the UI navigation keys to choose a specific ingredient in the category, and use the plate button to put the ingredient on your plate. Submit a sandwich using the bell button, and use the trash button to discard the current sandwich and start again.

Art

For our sandwich-making game, we aim to maintain a cartoonish and engaging art style. Inspired by other sandwich-making games and our own narrative, I created all of the 2D art assets and UI elements to align with our core aesthetic, using simple shapes and a consistent visual style.
